Manchester United defender Wes Brown has spoken of his pride at playing 50 games for the club this season and is keen to finish the season as a double winner.

The 28-year-old has become a key member of the team - playing more games than any other United player - as they go for glory in the Barclays Premier League and Champions League.

Not only has Manchester-born Brown shaped up well at right-back in the year-long absence of Gary Neville, he has also looked good in the heart of the defence when called on to replace the injured Nemanja Vidic.

It has borne it out in the defensive record of Sir Alex Ferguson's side, who have conceded only 22 goals in 37 league games, which has put them in the position of needing a victory against Wigan next Sunday to retain the Premier League title.

There is also a date at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow to look forward to on May 21 when Chelsea will supply the opposition in the Champions League final.

And Brown, who recently signed a new four-year deal to remain at Old Trafford, is determined that United sign off the campaign in style.

He said: "This is one of my best seasons. I have played every week when in other years I have been in and out of the side.

"It is great to be doing that and hopefully I can keep the run going. Two more wins would bring two trophies so that would be brilliant.

"These games are very important and we have to be ready to meet them head on.

"We have played well in the league all season and to throw it away now would be very disappointing.

"To get to the Champions League Final is a great achievement for everyone at the club. We are there now but we know we still have not won anything."

Brown has also singled out Cristiano Ronaldo for praise as the season reaches a thrilling climax.

The Portugal international winger took his tally to 40 goals - 30 of them coming in the league - in the 4-1 victory against West Ham.

"Cristiano has been unbelievable, especially considering he is playing on the wing as well," Brown added.

"He got us started against West Ham and from that moment, we never really looked as though we would get beaten."

Meanwhile United boss Ferguson will monitor the fitness of injured duo Vidic, who has a facial injury, and Wayne Rooney (hip) ahead of the Wigan match.

Midfielder Nani will definitely miss out through suspension after he was sent off at the weekend for butting West Ham defender Lucas Neill.
